At the end of January, we brought a real matter of the heart to our V&S Academy and invited the HERZRETTER to our agency for an employee training course.
The necessary basic knowledge of resuscitation “Check - Call - Push” was clearly taught and practiced in a two-hour workshop. However, our heart rescuer Jennifer Ehnert also provided intensive training on how to have the courage to help in an emergency, take responsibility and get involved. The special thing: The HERZRETTERs deliberately use experienced actors and actresses as trainers. Unlike medically trained specialists, they focus on experiencing the situation as a layperson. Trained in theater pedagogy, they convey the heart rescuer know-how to their participants in an age-appropriate, realistic and fun way. The initiative began with workshops in schools. In the meantime, awareness and recognition have grown enormously and the workshops are now also offered to anyone interested and to companies.
The association is a non-profit organization and is financed exclusively by donations. All costs for the organization and implementation of the training courses are covered by patrons, donors, sponsors, the fee-based training courses in companies and voluntary cost contributions (in daycare centers and schools).
With the vision “In every emergency, there is always a heart rescuer on site in Hamburg. - All citizens should be able to save lives” - the Herzretter Stadt Hamburg project was launched in 2023 with a broad-based media campaign. The Hamburg senate, companies, schools, sports clubs and the media are supporting the project with ideational, financial and active support. Healthcare providers, clinics and those involved in the emergency services are invited as cooperation partners.
The HERZRETTER “I can save lives! e.V.” initiative launched by Dr. Martin Buchholz is exemplary and the commitment of the volunteer team is tireless! The HERZRETTER day at our agency with actress Jennifer Ehnert was fantastic and impressive. Many, many thanks to everyone involved and the HERZRETTER team!
